Childs sore throat Ice lollys

My Grandaughters both have terribly bad tonsilitis. One is small and one really hates medicine which would help soothe and settle the dreaded lumps.  Making soothing lollies means they are fooled into having medicine!

I bottle of lemon squash ( low sugar ) or a bag of lemons

Half a jar of honey  any will do but local is nicer

1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon

teaspoon of Glycerine

Water (If you used squash then follow advice on bottle )

Squeeze lemons and then grate a little lemon zest which will add flavour and add to large saucepan.

Add Honey , cinnamon, Glycerine  and a pint and a half of water.

Boil mixture  untill reduced a little. If its to sour add a little sugar or more honey.

Add to ice cube trays or lolly makers.

Germs cant live in Honey, cinnamon is anti bacterial and Lemon is chock full of vitamin C, Glycerine attracts moisture to its self and so keeps the throat moisturised. Ice lollies are lovely on a sore throat. Happy Children !

About ladylesley

Surprisingly lifes not been easy. Ive ripped or broken most limbs just working with the sanctury animals but then Ive had access to all the wonderful plants and herbs growing freely. Ive fought battles against injustice and prejudice and Ive tried to help and empower people. At the end of the day I prefer animals to people and I love making traditional food and products from all that grows around me. If I can make it for free then Im even happier. Im the Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall of the poor and frugal
